The Warren Street Festival, established in the year 2000, has become a symbol of community celebration and historical acknowledgment. Founded by Darlene Swain and friends, this event was born out of a desire to honor our contributions and the remarkable history we’ve woven into the fabric of our town.
Warren Street, once a thriving black business district and neighborhood, dating back to the 1890s. Served as the birthplace to over 25 businesses and nurtured a community of entrepreneurs, teachers, and visionary individuals.
Today, The Warren Street Festival is dedicated to celebrating and uplifting our culture, community, and the legacy of those who came before us. As Maya Angelou wisely said, 'You can't really know where you're going until you know where you've been.'
